NORSOK M-001 is the central standard for materials engineering within the NORSOK system of standards. The standard has been given a major update due to the introduction of the ISO standard 21457.
Course description: This course will provide the following:
A detailed presentation of the updated standard.
In several sections reference is given to ISO 21457 with additional requirements. These additional requirements will be described and the reasoning behind them explained.
Recommendation for materials for the different systems has been updated based on experience transfer from major oil companies. Details behind the updated recommendations will be explained.
Mål for kurset
Goal: The object of the course is to give the participants an updated insight into and understanding of material selection requirements and documentation, as well as serve as an introduction to future trends and developments.

Who should take this course?: This course is targeted towards people who work on development and operations within material selection in the oil and gas industry.
Instructor: Leif Brattås is Cand. Real from the University of Oslo. He has worked with materials for the oil and gas industry since 1974 until retirement, and has been engaged in research and engineering in DNV, NPC, Aker Engineering and Force Technology.
Mr. Brattås has experience from several projects both in the North Sea and worldwide, and has been engaged as senior material selection specialist with ExxonMobil Houston for 6+ years. He regularly gives lectures on material selection.

Conditions for course registrations
Registration for courses is binding. Any cancellations must be made in writing.
In case of cancellation there will be a charge of 20% of the course fee, with a minimum amount of NOK 500.
In case of cancellation later than:
14 days before the course the charge is 50% of the course fee
7 days before the course the course fee is charged in full
Paid spaces may freely be used by other participants from the same company. Written notification is required.
We reserve the right to cancel or change the programme in the event of circumstances beyond our control.
