All piping and lay-out standards are now revised
With the initiative taken in 2013, a large number of revision projects were launched. The expert group Piping and Layout, EG-L, are now finalizing their projects, and L-002 and L-004 (edition 2016) are already published and available.
L-001 (current edition 1999) will be approved for publication this fall and L-003 (current edition 1996) will be made available a couple of months later as the enquiry (link to L-003) closes on 10 August. The aim of the revision projects have been to ensure that new experiences on the Norwegian continental shelf, new technologies and the need for cost-saving measures are reflected in the standards. Simplification and cost saving measures have been in focus. Duplicate requirements have been removed.
L-001 has been simplified and is now organised as a generic document to enable projects to generate their own pipe classes. A PED verification of the example pipe classes is included in the references.
L-002 no longer contain requirements for lifting operations. Guidance for use of manual hoses have been included and reduction in man-hours can be obtained by use manual calculations.
L-003 will reflect current used piping details.
L-004 is simplified and updated with most recent industry practices.
